Make SCF your new year's resolution!

It's the time of year to turn over a new leaf and SCF has some great ideas!

New year’s resolutions: have you made yours?

It’s that time of year again to start afresh, make new promises, commit to something positive for the new year.  Start 2012 off on the right foot by making a New Year’s resolution that not only benefits you but makes a real difference to the lives of children and adults with scoliosis.

Get fit with SCF

Make 2012 the year to enter yourself into the British London 10K and set yourself a goal for the summer.  Join the Scoliosis Campaign Foundation team - be brave and get those trainers on!

Set yourself a challenge

Why not push yourself this year and join up to one of SCF’s fantastic fundraising events?  You could climb Ben Nevis, cycle from London to Paris or enjoy a trek through the English countryside.

Give something up!

After the indulgences of the festive period, why not get friends and family to sponsor you to give something up. Set yourself a time limit and either get people to sponsor you per day or for the full length of time.

Adopt SCF for a year

Neil Wood dedicated this year to fundraising for us.  Why not use your chosen sport and hobby to contribute towards charity and adopt SCF as your charity for a year?

Twelfth Night clearance

This is the traditional time for people to take down their Christmas decorations and throwing out their trees. People often are too busy to dispose of their trees so maybe set up a service going round your local area collecting people’s trees to recycle. Charge them a small fee or ask for a donation to your expedition.

2012 Sweepstakes

Think ahead to key sporting events in 2012 where you can have a fundraising sweepstake.  People pay to enter a draw and get drawn a team or artist out of a hat. The person with the winning team wins a share of the money taken.  It’d work brilliantly for the Olympics or during the football season!

Present swap!

Sell your unwanted Christmas presents, have a clear out of old items on eBay or organise a present swap. Charge people for entry and get them to bring any unused present that they want to swap.  You can even fundraise for SAUK as you use eBay at http://www.everyclick.com/

Volunteer for SAUK

Why not try something new and put yourself forward?  SAUK is still looking for regional representatives to help offer support to our members in these areas:

Midlands

The North West

West Scotland

Northern Ireland

If you’re interested in volunteering for SAUK, please e-mail communications@sauk.org.uk for more details.

Swear box

Persuade everyone you know to start off on the right foot this year…and that means no swearing!  Every penny counts.

Gather pledges!

Persuade your friends and family to pledge their efforts to fundraise for SCF this year.  Suggest fun things like endurance tests or small sponsored events:  a dance-a-thon, a sponsored silence, hair cut or wax (works best for the boys!), a post-Christmas fast or pie-eating contest.
